Packed with the vintage influenced mojo that Mr. Mayer loves so much, we think you’ll be surprised by just how much ground the SE John Mayer Silver Sky can cover!
A key component that contributes hugely to the effortless playability of the SE John Mayer Silver Sky is the original shape neck carve. It takes its inspiration from vintage guitars and is joined by the 8.5″ radius fretboard. This slightly larger radius (compared to the 7.25″ of its sibling) actually allows for an easier setup.
Integral to the character of the SE John Mayer Silver Sky, these pickups deliver sparkling cleans with just enough bite for digging in with a bit of gain. Think about Mr. Mayer’s silky lead tones from Last Train Home as an example of the kind of tonal territory that these pickups can get you into.
We really appreciate that PRS have kept up the high standard of hardware here on the SE model by using a steel tremolo rather than a cheaper alternative. It is an important part of the guitar’s tone and although the 2 point is different to the 6 screw tremolo of its original counterpart, the tremolo performs smoothly and efficiently, meaning vibrato use is easy to control and reliable too.
